Beautiful Pictures and More Land Improvement

Written by Lindsey

This past week we had an incredibly talented photographer over to our home to capture more photos of our pork, including the new sampler boxes (currently sold out but we’ll have more available July). She spent time laying out each cut and shooting it from multiple angles, all nestled up in hay near our goat barn. Capturing the specialness of our meat made me swell up with pride. I already know that our pork tastes divine, but this felt like soon the world would know too.

For me, most days of farming seem small: a short walk out into the woods carrying a toddler, scratching behind a piggy’s ear, setting aside our table scraps to be given as a treat, reminding the kids to collect eggs and take their goats on a walk in the woods. My efforts are usually spent holding down the fort with the house and the children while Tanner moves paddocks, refills feed and water, or runs down to Lake Elmo Park Reserve to help the pigs there.

So it feels extra special to have more recent days where farming feels a little bigger: greeting members of our community at the Linstrom Public Market, photographing beautiful pictures of our various cuts and offerings so that our customers can see what they are getting, being humbled by the generosity of farmers who are passing the torch on to the next generation.

We’ve updated the website with our new pictures but also encourage you to enjoy them here and get excited about feeding yourself and those you love with this nutritious and flavorful food.

Over this past year I have seen Tanner really develop a passion for connecting with the other farmers that live within a few miles of us, in particular those that have decades of wisdom to share and are slowing down. As he has invested in these relationships, we have been in awe of how passionate they still are and how happy they are to see a young family like us getting into farming.

We’ve grown to know a couple down the road who homesteaded their whole adult life and now have a quiet pasture that sits unused. A few years ago, raising their last group of cattle, they struggled to feed even a few cows due to the poor forage. We are partnering with this couple starting in July to improve this quiet pastureland using our hogs. Our hogs will disturb the pasture and encourage new plant growth. Those ordering shares for January 2027 are coming alongside us in improving more local land. How exciting!

Really big things have come in short time, and we honor God’s blessing in it all. We will continue to lean into and appreciate the small things. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
